In a routine patrolling and naka checking drive, the Kishtwar Police on Monday successfully apprehended a notorious bootlegger and recovered 48 bottles of JK Special Whiskey from his possession.
The accused, identified as Tariq Hussain, son of Mohd Abas, resident of Gurain Kishtwar, was stopped during a routine check. Upon suspicion, the police party conducted a search and found the concealed cache of whiskey.
Hussain has been arrested under Section 48(a) of the Excise Act, and an FIR bearing number 01/2024 has been registered at PS Kishtwar. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
The Kishtwar Police commend the vigilance of their officers and encourage the public to report any suspicious activities related to the illegal sale of liquor.
