UAPA Court Declares 23 Kishtwar-based Militants, Operating from Across Border, Proclaimed Offenders: Police

In a significant move to address security concerns within the district, Jammu and Kashmir Police, led by SSP Kishtwar Khalil Poswal, have declared a total of 23 Kishtwar-based militants operating from Pakistan/PoK as proclaimed offenders. This official declaration comes from the UAPA Special Court in Doda.

Previously, 13 individuals were already declared proclaimed offenders, bringing the total to 36.

SSP Poswal attributed this success to the diligent efforts of the Kishtwar Police, who initiated the process by gathering crucial intelligence and filing an FIR under relevant sections of the UAPA. The investigation, headed by Dy. SP Vishal Sharma, meticulously presented all necessary formalities before the court.

Following the declaration, the attachment of property under Section 83 of the CrPC will be initiated if the absconding militants fail to surrender within the stipulated timeframe.

The list of proclaimed offenders includes individuals identified as:

ADGP Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, has directed for the swift identification of immovable properties belonging to all the proclaimed offenders for subsequent attachment under Section 83 of the CrPC.
