The 5th District Baramulla Taekwondo Championships kicked off today at the New JKSC Indoor Sports Complex in Khwajabagh, Baramulla. Organized by the Taekwondo Association of District Baramulla under the auspices of the J&K Taekwondo Association and sponsored by the J&K Sports Council, this prestigious event runs over two days, from November 8 to 9, 2024, and brings together the district’s top talent in the sport of taekwondo.
The opening ceremony was marked by the presence of Adv. Neelofar Masood, President of the Taekwondo Association of District Baramulla, who graced the event as Chief Guest. She was joined by Showkat Ahmad, Incharge of Sports Stadium Khwajabagh Baramulla, who attended as Guest of Honor. In her opening remarks, Masood emphasized the association’s commitment to promoting taekwondo in the region, especially at the grassroots level, to encourage youth engagement in sports.
This year’s championship has attracted an impressive lineup of 130 athletes from across District Baramulla, including participants from various schools, zones, and local taekwondo clubs. Competitors, representing their respective institutions and communities, will compete across multiple categories over the course of the two-day event.
The Baramulla Taekwondo Championships have gained recognition for nurturing young talent and providing a platform for athletes to demonstrate their skill, discipline, and sportsmanship. The event also serves as an opportunity for the district’s youth to engage in competitive sport, fostering a sense of unity and healthy competition within the community.
