Protest have erupted in Kishtwar district following the tragic killing of two Village Defence Guard (VDG) members, Nazir Ahmed and Kuldeep Kumar, by militants in the Kuntwara area. The Sanathan Dharma Sabha has called for a district-wide bandh on Friday, urging the public to join in solidarity and demand justice for the victims.
The two VDG members, Nazir Ahmed and Kuldeep Kumar, both residents of Ohli Kuntwara, went missing while grazing livestock in the upper reaches of Kuntwara. Later that day, graphic images began circulating on social media, showing their bodies with signs of restraint, indicating they may have been captured and executed by militants. Official sources told The Chenab Times that family members had confirmed the identities of the deceased, sparking immediate calls for action and accountability.
In response to the incident, a joint search operation by the police and army was launched and is ongoing in the dense forests of Kishtwar. Authorities have intensified their efforts to locate and recover the bodies, while also working to identify the perpetrators responsible for the brutal act.
