5th District Baramulla Taekwondo Championships 2024 Concludes with Enthusiastic Participation and Promising Developments

The 5th District Baramulla Taekwondo Championships concluded today at the newly inaugurated JKSC New Indoor Sports Complex, Khwajabagh, Baramulla, marking the end of two days of spirited competition and showcasing remarkable taekwondo talent from across the district. This year’s championship brought together 150 athletes, each displaying outstanding skill, sportsmanship, and dedication to the sport.

The closing ceremony was attended by Shri Minga Sherpa, District Development Commissioner, who served as the Chief Guest, and Shri Nissar Hussain Wani, Senior Vice President of the Jammu and Kashmir Taekwondo Association, as the Guest of Honor. Shri Sherpa was welcomed by Adv Neelofar Masood, President of the District Baramulla Taekwondo Association, and commended the organizing committee for successfully hosting this prestigious event. Congratulating the athletes for their dedication and achievements, he announced plans to establish a dedicated training hall for Taekwondo athletes of District Baramulla at the JKSC Indoor Stadium, Khwajabagh—a significant development aimed at nurturing and promoting local talent in the sport.

During the two-day event, the participating athletes captivated the audience with their skill, discipline, and competitive spirit, setting a high standard in the local sports community. The closing ceremony also honored several distinguished attendees, including Showkat Shah, Manager of JKSC Baramulla; Danish Manzoor, International Taekwondo Athlete and Fit India Ambassador; Parveena Akhtar, Principal of Higher Secondary School Chatoosa; Dr. Khalid Mehraj, Patron of the District Baramulla Taekwondo Association; along with youth activist Saahil Masoodi, BTA Organizing Secretary Mumtaz Nazir, and notable local advocates Adv Adil Jamal, Adv Yasin, and Kifayat Aftab.

In his address, Shri Minga Sherpa praised the level of talent on display and the commitment of the athletes and their coaches, reinforcing the importance of community support in fostering athletic growth. He added that the proposed training facility would provide a much-needed boost to the region’s taekwondo athletes, offering them access to quality training resources within their home district.

The 5th District Baramulla Taekwondo Championships 2024 concluded on a high note, leaving athletes, organizers, and spectators alike optimistic about the future of taekwondo in the region and looking forward to continued growth and excellence in the sport.
