Jammu Police Arrest Constable for Alleged Involvement in Narcotics Trade

Jammu Police have arrested a J&K Police Selection Grade Constable, Mohd Mukhtiyar, for allegedly selling narcotics in the premises of Government Medical College, Jammu. The operation resulted in the recovery of 15 grams of heroin-like substance and cash amounting to ₹9,000 from the accused.

The arrest was made when Mukhtiyar was reportedly riding a Bullet motorcycle bearing registration number JK02 BW 1950. Acting on credible information, law enforcement officials apprehended him and conducted a search, leading to the discovery of the contraband and cash.

An FIR has been registered at Police Station Bakshi Nagar, and an investigation into the matter is underway. According to sources, the accused was allegedly engaging in narcotics trade to generate profits.

Authorities have expressed concern over the involvement of personnel entrusted with upholding the law in such criminal activities. “This arrest underlines our commitment to eradicating the menace of drugs from society, irrespective of the individuals involved,” a senior police official stated.

Further investigation aims to uncover possible connections to larger networks or accomplices involved in the illegal trade.
