In the video, Varun asked Saqib about the appearance of his titular character. Saqib, in a light-hearted tone, responded with enthusiasm, calling it “simply outstanding” and adding, “Kya lag raha hai yaar!”
He then humorously praised Varun’s acting skills, saying, “You’re looking like a nuanced actor. See the intensity in your eyes, man. The eyebrows bent at 23 degrees. This is international. This is going to go global now.”
Saqib accompanied the video with a caption that read, “I had predicted this while shooting for the show – trending globally everywhere. Number one baby, presenting Varun ‘nuance’ Dhawan. Had a great time shooting this with the whole team. Grateful for the opportunity and humbled by the love.”
The actor also addressed rumors surrounding his absence from the trailer launch and promotional events of Citadel: Honey Bunny. Speculation about a rift with the show’s makers arose after Saqib was noticeably absent from key promotional activities. However, he later clarified that his absence was part of a planned strategy by the production team. The makers wanted to keep his character under wraps as a surprise for viewers.
Citadel: Honey Bunny is set in the 1990s and serves as a prequel to the original Citadel series by the Russo Brothers, which stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden. The show features Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun Dhawan in leading roles, with Saqib portraying a menacing agent.
