Kashmir’s Nazia Fatima Secures Bronze at U19 SGFI Nationals

SRINAGAR, Dec 14 – In a significant achievement for Jammu and Kashmir, Nazia Fatima, a young judoka from Srinagar, clinched her first national medal at the ongoing Under-19 School Games Federation of India (SGFI) Nationals. Competing in the 44Kg weight category, Fatima secured a bronze medal after winning four matches against top contenders from across the country.

A trainee at the PMDP Judo Center under the aegis of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, Fatima’s accomplishment is being celebrated as a testament to the region’s growing prominence in the sport. Her rigorous training under the guidance of State Awardee Judo Coach Kabra Altaf has been instrumental in her success.

“This medal is a result of Nazia’s persistence, hard work, and the structured coaching she received. It proves that with dedication and the right support, players from our state can excel at the national level,” said Kabra Altaf, highlighting the athlete’s journey.
