SRINAGAR, Dec 17 – The Jammu & Kashmir People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has announced key appointments in a bid to bolster its organizational framework, with Advocate Sheikh Nasir Hussain from the Chenab Valley named as the party’s Additional General Secretary.
The decision, part of a broader reshuffle aimed at fortifying the PDP’s grassroots presence, was confirmed in an official statement on Monday. Alongside Sheikh Nasir, Advocate Anil Sethi was also appointed as an Additional General Secretary, while Ghulam Mohiuddin Wani was designated as the District President for Shopian. In a separate move, Tazeem Dar has been nominated as the Media Coordinator for Rajouri district.
Sheikh Nasir, a prominent political figure in the Chenab Valley, has received widespread support from party workers and supporters in the region. His appointment is seen as a strategic step to strengthen the PDP’s foothold in a politically significant area.
“I express my heartfelt gratitude to PDP President Mehbooba Mufti and the leadership for entrusting me with this responsibility,” Sheikh Nasir said in a statement. “I am committed to fulfilling their expectations and working tirelessly to expand the party’s reach at the grassroots level.”
The appointments underscore the PDP’s efforts to rejuvenate its organizational structure and prepare for upcoming political challenges in Jammu and Kashmir. Party insiders view these moves as part of a broader strategy to consolidate its position in key districts and enhance outreach efforts.
The PDP, led by former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, has been working to rebuild its organizational base following political upheavals in the region.
