RAJOURI, Jan 30 – PG College Rajouri has bid farewell to its Principal, Mussaraf Hussain Shah, recognizing his years of dedicated service to the institution as he attained superannuation on January 22, 2025.
Faculty members and students expressed their gratitude and admiration for Shah’s leadership while acknowledging his contributions to the academic and infrastructural growth of the college.
Born in 1965 in Banola village of Mendhar Tehsil, Poonch district, Shah completed his matriculation in 1980 with first division at High School Chhatral. He later pursued higher education at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), earning master’s degrees in Chemistry and Sociology. Shah further obtained a master’s in English from Hyderabad before returning to Jammu, where he completed a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from the University of Jammu.
Over his career, Shah held the position of Principal at several government colleges, including Government Degree College (GDC) Poonch, GDC Surankote, GDC Darhal, and GDC Mandi. His tenure saw significant advancements in academic programs, infrastructure, and institutional development.
“Shah sir has been a mentor, a guide, and a pillar of strength for students and staff alike,” said a student from GDC Mandi.
Beyond academia, Shah played a key role in various organizations. He was a member of the Divisional Level NAAC Committee for Jammu division colleges and served as the President of the Pir Panjal Foundation for Peace and Communal Harmony. He was also associated with the International Society of Development in Japan.
Shah has presented research papers at numerous national and international seminars, contributing to discussions on education and social development.
His departure marks the end of an era at PG College Rajouri, but his contributions are expected to leave a lasting impact on the academic community in Jammu and Kashmir.
