14 Injured In Bus Accident In Poonch

POONCH, March 22 – At least 14 people were injured when a minibus crashed in Pir Panjal‘s Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, on Saturday, marking the second road accident in the region within a week, local authorities said.

The injured were rushed to the District Hospital in Poonch, where they are undergoing treatment. Rescue teams and police responded swiftly to the scene, though the cause of the accident remains under investigation.

This follows a deadly crash last week in Reasi’s Mahore, where a minibus overturned near Gangot, killing three and injuring 10. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi, Paramvir Singh, told ANI that four critically injured victims from that incident were shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu for specialized care.

Local authorities have mobilized support in both cases, with the district administration offering condolences to the families of the Mahore victims and pledging assistance to those affected. Officials are now urging drivers to exercise caution on the region’s hilly roads and adhere to safety rules to curb rising accidents.

Road mishaps remain a persistent challenge in Jammu and Kashmir’s mountainous terrain, with authorities vowing stricter enforcement of traffic regulations.
