Poonch, March 23 – The Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, in a joint operation on Sunday, recovered a cache of arms, ammunition, and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) from a hideout in the Sangla Top area of Surankote, Poonch district, officials said.
The operation, dubbed “Op Nandiyali, Surankote,” was based on intelligence inputs and involved coordinated efforts between the army and police. The recovered items also included narcotics, according to a statement posted by the Indian Army on X.
In the post, the army said the operation disrupted a potential terrorist attempt targeting the Rajouri and Poonch areas. “Recovery of heavy arms, ammunition, IEDs and narcotics was made in an intelligence-based joint search operation by #Indian Army and #J&K Police from #Sangla Top, #Surankote #Poonch,” the statement read, adding that the haul dealt a blow to the operational capabilities of militant groups in the region.
Authorities have not released further details about the operation or the specific groups involved. The recovery marks a significant effort by security forces to curb militancy in the restive Jammu and Kashmir region, where such operations have intensified in recent months.
