Protest Erupts in Bhaderwah Over Pahalgam Terror Attack, Complete Shutdown Observed

Bhaderwah, April 23: Widespread protests broke out in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bhaderwah town on Wednesday as residents took to the streets to condemn the recent terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, which claimed 27 lives. The protest, primarily organised by members of the Hindu community, also witnessed participation and solidarity from members of the Muslim community.

Protesters raised strong anti-Pakistan and anti-terrorism slogans, demanding justice for the victims and calling on authorities to ensure better safety and protection for tourists in the region. Demonstrators emphasized that such barbaric acts of violence have no place in a civilised society and reiterated their collective commitment to peace, unity, and communal harmony.

The demonstration came a day after Anjuman Islamia Bhaderwah issued a strong condemnation of the attack and called for a complete shutdown in the town. On Wednesday, Bhaderwah observed a total bandh with business establishments, schools, and public transport remaining closed throughout the day as a mark of protest and mourning.

The protest reflected the shared grief and outrage felt across communities in the Chenab region, where religious and social organisations have united in their demand for swift action against the perpetrators and a firm stand against terrorism.
