Srinagar, May 30: The Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Department on Friday announced the schedule for summer vacations for Government Degree Colleges across the Union Territory, with variations in dates based on regional climatic zones.
According to an official communiqué issued by the department, Government Degree Colleges in the Kashmir Division will remain closed for summer recess from July 15 to July 24, 2025. The directive aims to provide respite during the peak summer spell in the Valley.
For colleges located in the Summer Zone of Jammu Division, the summer vacation will commence earlier, beginning June 1 and concluding on July 15, 2025. Meanwhile, institutions situated in the Winter Zone of Jammu Division will observe holidays in sync with the Kashmir schedule, from July 15 to July 24, 2025.
A senior official from the Higher Education Department confirmed the development, stating that the department has issued a unified schedule keeping in view the distinct weather patterns prevailing in different parts of the Union Territory.
The announcement comes in adherence to the academic calendar and is expected to facilitate necessary institutional maintenance and provide relief to students and faculty during the summer period.
