NH244’s Thathri–Kishtwar Traffic Movement Closed on 19–20 June: Kishtwar Administration

Kishtwar June 18 —The District Magistrate of Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma (JKAS), has issued an order restricting traffic movement on the Thathri bridge Police Naka to Kishtwar route — and vice versa — from 8:00 PM on June 19 to 6:00 AM on June 20, 2025. The restriction comes in light of scheduled road works involving the laying of Bituminous Concrete (BC) in the Drabshalla Market area.

The directive was issued following a request from the General Manager (Projects), PMU-Kishtwar of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL), conveyed through a letter dated June 17, 2025, as per The Chenab Times. The work is being undertaken to improve the road surface quality in the region.

“There shall be no traffic movement from Thathri bridge Police Naka to Kishtwar and vice versa during the mentioned period,” the order states.

To ensure effective implementation, the District Magistrate has directed the Senior Superintendent of Police, Kishtwar, to enforce the order in both letter and spirit.

The order, bearing No. DMK/2025-26/960-65, was issued on June 18, 2025. Commuters have been advised to plan their travel accordingly and extend cooperation to the authorities to facilitate timely completion of the work.
