Jammu, July 2 — In a partial modification of earlier directives, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday extended the summer vacations in all Government Degree Colleges across Kashmir Division and Jammu Division (falling under the Winter Zone) until July 5, 2025 (Saturday).
As per Government Order No. 297-JK(HE) of 2025, issued by the Higher Education Department, the extension comes in light of previously issued orders—namely Government Order Nos. 261-JK(HE), 290-JK(HE), and 291-JK(HE)—dated May 30, June 23, and June 24 respectively.
The order, signed by Shantmanu, IAS, Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), states that the decision has been taken in the interest of academic institutions and will apply uniformly to all government degree colleges situated in the Winter Zone.
The directive has been circulated to relevant officials including the Joint Secretary (J&K) at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Director Colleges J&K, Director of Archives, Archaeology and Museum, OSD to the Minister for Higher Education, Registrars, Nodal Principals, and concerned college principals across the Union Territory.
