Srinagar, 16 July — The annual Urs of revered Sufi saint Hazrat Sheikh Ropi Rishi Sahib (RA) was observed with solemn devotion and spiritual fervour in Old Habba Kadal, Srinagar. The commemorative gathering, attended by thousands of devotees from across the Valley, also marked the formal launch of a biographical work titled Life of Hazrat Ropi Rishi Sahib (RA) authored by Maulana Sohail Raza Qadri.
The day-long observance witnessed a series of religious and spiritual events, including collective supplications, Quranic recitations, and the continuous invocation of peace and blessings (Durud) upon Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The Urs celebrations culminated in a Milad gathering, held in the afternoon, which drew a distinguished assembly of scholars, clerics, and community leaders.
Addressing the audience during the book launch, Maulana Sohail Raza Qadri offered insights into the life, teachings, and enduring legacy of Hazrat Ropi Rishi Sahib (RA), emphasising the saint’s spiritual guidance and his role in nurturing piety and ethical conduct in society. The biography, he noted, serves as both a historical document and a spiritual manual for seekers of truth.
Among the prominent participants were Mufti Mubarak Hussain Naumani, Allama Shaukat Hussain King, and other noted religious scholars, who paid rich tributes to the saint’s contributions to the Islamic spiritual tradition in Kashmir. The Imam and Khateeb of Bagh-e-Aliya delivered the keynote address, focusing on the moral and mystical dimensions of Hazrat Ropi Rishi Sahib’s teachings.
As the Urs concluded, a collective prayer was held, invoking blessings upon the saint and reaffirming the participants’ commitment to imbibing his teachings in their personal and communal lives. Organisers and devotees expressed satisfaction over the seamless conduct of the event, noting the deepened reverence and spiritual renewal among attendees.
