Youth Severely Injured in Hit-and-Run by Dumper in Doda’s Thathri; Case Registered

Thathri, July 16: In a horrifying hit-and-run incident in the early hours of Wednesday, a 25-year-old youth was critically injured after being struck by a rashly driven dumper in Thathri town of Doda district.

The dumper, bearing registration number JK14K2948, hit Shahid Hussain, son of Mohd Amin, a resident of Ward No. 5, Thathri, at around 3 AM. The incident, captured on CCTV footage, also shows the vehicle colliding with an Ertiga car before fleeing the scene.

The accident left Shahid grievously injured — one of his legs was amputated and the other fractured. He was initially taken to CHC Thathri for treatment and later referred to GMC Doda. Due to the severity of his condition, he is now being shifted to a higher medical center for advanced care.

Soon after the incident, Ababeel volunteers, local residents, and the police rushed to the spot to assist the victim and manage the situation.

The driver of the dumper fled the scene, and a case has been registered by the local police. An investigation is underway to trace the driver and bring him to justice.
