NEW YORK, Aug 17 — Three people were killed and eight others wounded when multiple gunmen opened fire inside a Brooklyn restaurant early Sunday morning, police said.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, the incident took place at Taste of the City Lounge on Franklin Avenue in the Crown Heights neighborhood just before 3:30 a.m. Officers responded after receiving calls of a shooting inside the establishment, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said at a press briefing, as reported by New York Post.
The deceased victims were identified as three men aged 27, 35, and one of unknown age. Eight others sustained injuries and were taken to local hospitals. Their conditions have not yet been disclosed.
Investigators recovered at least 36 shell casings from the scene. No arrests have been made, and the suspects remain unidentified, police said.
Commissioner Tisch stated, “We have the lowest number of shooting incidents and shooting victims seven months into the year we’ve seen on record in the city of New York. Something like this is, of course, thank god, an anomaly and it’s a terrible thing that’s happened this morning.”
Video circulating on social media showed NYPD personnel inside the restaurant, where broken glass and blood were visible. The business, which opened in 2022, serves American and Caribbean food with a full bar and DJs. It is located less than half a mile from the Brooklyn Museum.
The NYPD has launched an investigation into the shooting.
