Udhampur, Aug 23: A mother and son from Kishtwar lost their lives in a road accident on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway near Tikri, Udhampur, on Saturday.
Relatives of the family told The Chenab Times that the deceased have been identified as Shafiqa Begum, wife of Abdul Kabir Zargar, and their 33-year-old son, Asif Kabir Zargar. The family was on its way back to Kishtwar when tragedy struck.
According to police, the Baleno car (JK02CH-5448) they were travelling in lost control and hit a roadside parapet wall.
The father, Abdul Kabir Zargar, a retired NHPC employee, was also injured and is undergoing treatment at GMC Jammu.
Police have registered a case and begun an investigation into the cause of the accident.
