Over 500 Roads Blocked in Himachal Pradesh Amid Ongoing Rains

SHIMLA — As many as 519 roads, including two national highways, remain blocked in Himachal Pradesh, while 441 power transformers and 274 water supply schemes are disrupted due to heavy rains, the State Emergency Operation Centre reported on Wednesday, according to details received by The Chenab Times.

Mandi has the highest number of blocked roads at 187, followed by Kullu with 156, including NH-03; Shimla with 51; Kangra with 33; Chamba with 26; Solan with 16; Bilaspur and Sirmaur with 14 each; Una with 13, including NH-503A; Hamirpur with 7; and Kinnaur with 2, affecting rural connectivity, The Tribune reported.

Of the disrupted power transformers, Mandi reported 329, followed by Kullu with 38, Shimla with 27, Hamirpur with 25, Chamba with 21, and Kangra with 1. For water supply schemes, Mandi had 180 damaged, followed by Shimla with 38, Chamba with 20, Kangra with 16, Hamirpur with 15, Solan with 4, and Sirmaur with 1.

Light to moderate rain is likely to continue across the state until September 23. In the past 24 hours, Bilaspur recorded the highest 40.8 mm of rain, followed by Kasauli with 39 mm, Naina Devi in Bilaspur with 30 mm, Pandoh with 20 mm, Mandi with 17.8 mm, Palampur with 16 mm, Dharamsala with 7.5 mm, Kangra with 6.3 mm, and Shimla with 1 mm.

Maximum temperatures are expected to rise by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius in the coming days, while minimum temperatures will remain unchanged.
