ISLAMABAD — A purported video surfaced on Wednesday reportedly featuring Lashkar-e-Taiba deputy chief Saifullah Kasuri, the alleged mastermind of the Pahalgam terror attack, issuing threats to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and vowing retribution for India’s Operation Sindoor, according to details received by The Chenab Times.
In the nearly two-minute video, Kasuri, addressing Modi directly, stated their “resolve remains strong” and that “the rivers and dams of Jammu and Kashmir will belong to us.” He added, “It’s a tough time but we will avenge the blood of our brothers,” as reported by News18.
Kasuri, a senior LeT commander and reportedly handler of The Resistance Front (TRF), which claimed the April 22, 2025, Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians, mostly Hindu tourists, works closely with Hizbul Mujahideen and other groups, intelligence sources told News18. He enjoys state patronage in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, with Inter-Services Intelligence facilitation, the sources said.
The video claims the Pakistani government and army are funding LeT to rebuild its Muridke headquarters, destroyed during Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025, in response to the Pahalgam attack. Strikes targeted nine sites, including JeM’s Bahawalpur base and LeT’s Muridke facility, in Pakistani Punjab and Azad Kashmir, as per Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri’s briefing.
Intelligence sources noted banned outfits like LeT and JeM operate under flood relief in Bahawalpur, a JeM nerve center hit in the strikes, with funding from Pakistan without audits, News18 reported. The video emerged a day after a JeM commander reportedly admitted Masood Azhar’s family was “destroyed” in the Bahawalpur strikes, per a September 16 video.
Pakistan denies terror funding before the Financial Action Task Force, but Kasuri’s claims raise concerns amid his public anti-India speeches and radicalization efforts, News18 report added.
