Kashmir School Blacklists Physics Wallah Over Alleged Teacher Misconduct

Srinagar, October 16 — The New Era Islamia Public Secondary School in Pattan, Baramulla district, has blacklisted the coaching institute Physics Wallah after a viral video allegedly showed one of its teachers engaging in an “inappropriate act,” according to details received by The Chenab Times.

The video, widely shared on social media, triggered public outrage among parents, teachers, and education activists in the Kashmir Valley, who demanded stricter oversight of private coaching institutes. The incident has reignited scrutiny of Physics Wallah’s supervision and professional conduct, as reported by the Kashmir News Trust.

In response, the school’s management announced it would prohibit Physics Wallah from conducting entrance tests or student-related events on its premises. “We cannot allow any activity that undermines student dignity or public trust in the education system. Our institution stands for discipline, ethics, and accountability,” a school spokesperson stated.

This is not the first controversy involving Physics Wallah in Kashmir. In 2024, the institute faced criticism after a video allegedly showed a teacher displaying inappropriate content to students. The company denied the claims, stating the footage was manipulated and that the teacher involved was dismissed for unrelated disciplinary reasons.

The recurring incidents have raised concerns about the organization’s internal monitoring and training mechanisms. A Srinagar-based educationist emphasized the need for government intervention, stating, “Coaching institutes are mushrooming without proper accountability. There is an urgent need for a formal regulatory framework to ensure ethical and safe environments for our students.”
