AIMIM president and Member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday raised concerns over the Union government’s assertions regarding declining terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir following the release of a video featuring Dr Umar un Nabi, the main accused in the November 10 Red Fort car blast.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, Owaisi referred to the undated video in which Dr Umar justifies suicide bombings as “martyrdom operations” in Islam. “Suicide is haram in Islam, and the killing of innocents is a grave sin. Such acts are also against the law of the land. They are not ‘misunderstood’ in any way. This is terrorism and nothing else,” Owaisi posted on X.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the Hyderabad MP questioned Union Home Minister Amit Shah‘s statement made in Rajya Sabha on July 30, 2025. Shah had informed the House that no local Kashmiri youth had joined any terrorist organisation in the preceding six months.
“During Operation Sindoor and Mahadev Amit Shah had assured Parliament that no local Kashmiri had joined terror groups in the last six months. Where did this group come from then? Who is accountable for the failure to detect this group?,” Owaisi asked in his post.
Dr Umar un Nabi, a Kashmiri resident, has been identified through DNA evidence as the driver of the explosive-laden vehicle that detonated near Red Fort, killing 12 people. The National Investigation Agency has described him as a suicide bomber linked to a terror module.
The blast occurred hours after security forces recovered explosives and arms from a location in Faridabad. No immediate response from the Union Home Ministry was available on Owaisi’s remarks.
