Prominent Pakistani Islamic scholar and Sufi leader Hazrat Maulana Peer Hafiz Zulfiqar Ahmad Naqshbandi Mujaddidi passed away on December 14 at the age of 72. He was a key figure in the Naqshbandi Mujaddidi order known for teachings on spiritual purification and Islamic reform.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, the scholar died on Sunday in Jhang, Punjab. The Siasat Daily reported confirmation from close disciple Sheikh Bilal via Maulana Syed Mohammad Talha Qasmi Naqshbandi Mujaddidi.
The funeral prayer was held on Monday, December 15, at 2:00 PM at Jamia Mahad-ul-Faqeer Al-Islami in Jhang, the institution he founded. Muslim Mirror noted large gatherings of disciples and followers.
Born on April 1, 1953, in Jhang, Naqshbandi authored over 100 books on Islamic jurisprudence, spirituality and ethics. His influence extended across South Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Africa, emphasizing silent dhikr and adherence to Sharia.
He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter. Tributes came from scholars including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who described the loss as significant for the Muslim Ummah, and JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
