DIGIPUB Condemns Assault on Indus News TV Reporter in Bareilly

DIGIPUB News India Foundation has strongly condemned the assault on Santosh Shakya, a reporter associated with Indus News TV, which occurred on November 28 at a hospital in Bareilly. The incident allegedly took place in the presence of police, raising questions about accountability and the rule of law.

According to details received by The Chenab Times, the foundation described the attack as completely unacceptable and deeply disturbing, particularly against a journalist in a public institution under police watch. It is reported that several days have passed without registration of an FIR or action against the accused.

The foundation noted that the reporter submitted a complaint on the Chief Minister’s portal. However, police allegedly filed a false report, leading to disposal of the complaint. Such actions undermine the public grievance redressal mechanism.

DIGIPUB reiterated that no form of disagreement justifies physical violence. Assaulting a journalist performing professional duties amounts to a direct attack on press freedom and democratic values.

The foundation urged the district administration and police authorities to ensure a fair and impartial investigation, register an FIR without delay, and take strict legal action against those responsible. Ensuring safety of journalists and accountability of law enforcement agencies is essential to uphold democratic principles and public trust.
