Police in Mathura rescued a kidnapped college student and arrested three suspects who demanded Rs 30 lakh ransom after planning the crime inspired by a web series. The gang included two men and a woman from outside the area.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, a man reported his daughter missing from the Kotwali area. He soon received a call demanding ransom for her release. SSP Shlok Kumar said a case was filed promptly and a joint team of Special Operations Group and police investigated.
The caller threatened the father with Rs 30 lakh demand. The team rescued the girl and apprehended two perpetrators during an encounter. Interrogation revealed the gang consisted of one man from Agra, another from Bihar and a woman from Aligarh.
All accused have been arrested. The victim was safely returned to her family. ANI reported the plan stemmed from watching a web series.
