Technical Glitches Plague JK Police Constable Online Applications in Jammu and Kashmir

JKSSB Accounts Assistant (Panchayat) Result 2020 declared, check here

Srinagar, Feb 16: Numerous candidates applying for Constable (Executive) positions in the Jammu and Kashmir Police are encountering significant technical difficulties on the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) online portal, prompting widespread calls for an extension of the application submission deadline.

A large number of applicants are reporting prolonged payment processing failures, where transactions remain stuck in pending status for extended periods, sometimes exceeding a week. Additionally, the website’s sluggish performance has hampered the completion of the required live face capture verification step, leaving many unable to finalise and submit their forms despite repeated attempts.

The online application process for the 1815 Constable (Executive Police) posts, advertised under Notification No. 12 of 2025, commenced on January 19, 2026, and is set to close on February 17, 2026. These positions fall under the Home Department and are divided across divisional cadres in Jammu and Kashmir. Eligibility requires candidates to be domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, hold matriculation qualification, and meet specified age criteria, with relaxations for reserved categories and in-service personnel.

According to details received by The Chenab Times, the issues have intensified as the deadline approaches, raising concerns among genuine aspirants that they may be excluded from the recruitment drive solely due to these technical obstacles beyond their control. Many have taken to social media platforms and local networks to highlight payment gateway malfunctions and server delays that prevent form submission, particularly during peak hours.

Aspirants have collectively demanded that JKSSB extend the deadline by at least 10 to 15 days to ensure equitable access for all eligible candidates. They argue that such an extension would allow sufficient time to resolve the glitches and complete applications without undue pressure. Official advisories in the recruitment notification have cautioned applicants to submit forms well in advance to avoid last-minute technical issues or heavy website traffic, but reports indicate these problems persist system-wide.

The JKSSB has not yet issued any public response or announcement regarding the reported glitches or potential deadline changes as of the latest available information. The board’s portal continues to direct candidates to apply early and warns of possible disconnections due to load during closing days. No official confirmation of an extension has been made, leaving applicants anxious ahead of the February 17 cutoff.

This recruitment drive aims to fill vacancies in the executive cadre of the J&K Police, with selection involving a written examination, physical standard and endurance tests, document verification, and medical examination. The posts carry pay at Level-2 under the applicable pay matrix.

Candidates facing issues have been advised to attempt submissions during off-peak hours or use stable internet connections, though many report persistent failures regardless of timing. The situation underscores recurring challenges with online government recruitment portals in the region, where high applicant volumes often strain infrastructure.

As the deadline looms, the demand for an extension reflects broader frustrations among youth in Jammu and Kashmir seeking stable employment opportunities through competitive examinations. The Chenab Times will continue to monitor developments from JKSSB authorities on this matter.
