SRINAGAR: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan was found unconscious and later declared dead in Shopian district of South Kashmir on Saturday. The incident has prompted police to initiate an investigation.
The Chenab Times has learned that the deceased personnel has been identified as Gayan Chand, also known as Ashok Kumar. He was a resident of Arazi Samba in the Jammu region and was posted at the CRPF headquarters in Shopian.
According to an official statement, the jawan fell unconscious and was promptly transported to the District Hospital Shopian for immediate medical attention. Doctors at the facility, upon examination, declared him brought dead.
Following the discovery, the local police have registered a case and commenced proceedings under the relevant sections of the law to ascertain the circumstances leading to the jawan’s death. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
