Srinagar, March 28: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MLA from Pulwama, Waheed-ur-Rehman Para, on Thursday voiced concerns within the Legislative Assembly regarding the security arrangements for political leaders in Jammu and Kashmir, alleging a selective approach by the administration.
The Chenab Times has learned that Para specifically highlighted the attempt to evict former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti from her official residence, describing the action as unjustified. He emphasized that security is a non-negotiable requirement for political figures in the region, terming such actions as serious and advocating for a consistent policy to ensure the safety of elected representatives.
Para also condemned the recent attack on National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, underscoring that the security of elected officials cannot be compromised while they are engaged in public service. The PDP MLA further sought clarification from the government regarding a notice issued to Sajad Lone to vacate his accommodation, as well as the downgrading of security for Tariq Hameed Karra. He asked the Chief Minister to provide the rationale behind these decisions.
