SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday voiced apprehension regarding the decision to withdraw security personnel from the National Conference party headquarters in Srinagar. He described the move as ill-timed, particularly in the context of recent security-related incidents in the region.

According to details received by The Chenab Times, Abdullah, speaking outside the Legislative Assembly in Jammu, highlighted that the removal of security from the ‘Nawai Subh’ office has generated significant concern. This development follows closely on the heels of an incident involving the National Conference president, Farooq Abdullah.

The Chief Minister suggested that instead of reducing existing protection measures, authorities should have evaluated the possibility of enhancing security arrangements. This suggestion was made in light of the prior security episode, which had raised specific concerns. Abdullah questioned the underlying justification for the withdrawal, noting that Farooq Abdullah frequently visits the party headquarters multiple times each week.

Abdullah further stated that the reasons behind the timing and the necessity of this security withdrawal remain unclear. He indicated a desire for further clarification from the relevant authorities regarding the security protocols and the rationale for their alteration.
