The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns affecting various areas in Srinagar and parts of South Kashmir throughout April 2026. These disruptions are necessary for maintenance work on critical 33 kV transmission lines.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, the 33 kV Cheshmashahi–TRC–Nedous line will be under shutdown on April 4, 2026, between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. This will result in a temporary power outage for the Dal Lake area.
Further shutdowns are planned for the 33 kV Bemina–Fatehkadal and 33 kV Bemina–Barbarshah lines on April 1, 5, and 7, 2026, also from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The affected localities include KK Moulla, Nowpora, Bohri Kadal, Badademb, Bishembarnagar, Gousia Hospital, Naisadak, Barbarshah, Exchange, Basant Bagh, Car Parking, Maisuma Bazar, and surrounding neighborhoods.
In South Kashmir, the 33 kV Achabal–Cherpora tap line will experience shutdowns on April 2 and 4, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Consumers in Achabal, Shangus, Nowgam, Cherpora, and nearby regions should prepare for these disruptions.
Additionally, the 33 kV Kanipora–Keller line is scheduled for a shutdown on April 2, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This maintenance will impact power supply to Keller, Moshward, Hotline, the Hospital area, Nadpora, Kanipora, Drabgam, Shadimarg, Qasbyar, Kalampora, Dompora, and adjacent areas.
The KPDCL has advised residents in the affected zones to make necessary arrangements to mitigate the inconvenience caused by these essential maintenance activities. The department emphasized that these scheduled shutdowns are crucial for ensuring the reliable operation and upkeep of the power distribution network.
