Jammu and Kashmir: Terrorist Neutralized in Overnight Ganderbal Encounter

SRINAGAR, April 1: Security forces have neutralized a terrorist during a night-long encounter that concluded on Wednesday in the Arhama area of Ganderbal district in Jammu and Kashmir. The operation was a result of specific intelligence inputs regarding suspicious movement in the region.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that a joint operation was initiated by the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police late Tuesday night. The forces cordoned off the general area of Arhama based on credible intelligence.

During the intensified search operation, vigilant troops detected suspicious activity. Upon being challenged by the security personnel, the militants opened fire, prompting an immediate and calibrated retaliatory response from the troops. The encounter continued intermittently through the night.

The Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps confirmed the development in a post on social media platform X. Officials stated that the security forces effectively engaged the terrorists, leading to the elimination of one individual. The precise details of the operation and the identity of the neutralized terrorist are currently being ascertained.

Following the engagement, the cordon was tactically re-established by the security forces. While the immediate threat has been neutralized, authorities have indicated that the anti-terror operation is still in progress, suggesting that further investigations or mop-up operations may be ongoing in the vicinity to ensure complete security.

The successful operation underscores the persistent efforts of security forces in maintaining peace and combating terrorism in the Union Territory. The input regarding suspicious movement allowed for a swift and coordinated response, minimizing potential risks to civilian life.
