Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal has issued a stern warning to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his administration, vowing that they will be held accountable for their actions following the 2027 state assembly elections.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that Badal made these remarks during a ‘Punjab Bachao’ rally, asserting that the current leadership would not be permitted to evade responsibility for alleged corrupt practices.

Badal stated that individuals in power believe they can abscond to countries like Canada and Australia, where they have purportedly stashed illicit wealth, but warned that they would be brought back to face legal consequences.

Addressing the chief minister directly, Badal dismissed Mann’s attempts to engage in political criticism through traditional folk expressions, asserting that such tactics would not shield him from the electorate’s judgment.

He challenged Chief Minister Mann to visit any village in Punjab without a substantial security detail, claiming that the presence of a large convoy creates a lockdown effect, citing an instance in Jaito. Badal suggested that if the chief minister could engage with the public directly, Punjabis would ensure he understood the gravity of his alleged betrayals.

The SAD president also extended an appeal for unity among Punjabis, urging them to set aside differences and rally behind the Shiromani Akali Dal, which he described as the state’s sole regional party. He emphasized the collective responsibility to protect Punjab from what he termed as ‘looters’ and to restore the state’s pride and prosperity.

Badal also directed criticism towards the Congress party, accusing them of consistently betraying the people of Punjab and highlighting a perceived lack of substantive achievements during their 25 years in power in the state. He contrasted the current chief minister’s alleged lack of engagement with rural areas to the outreach programmes conducted by former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, who he stated had visited all villages in Patiala Rural during his tenure.

Furthermore, Sukhbir Badal called for ‘Panthic’ unity, encouraging all members of the Akali community to return to the party fold to collectively work towards the state’s welfare.
