Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir: Advanced diagnostic equipment, including AI-enabled X-ray units and Truenat machines, has been distributed to key hospitals in Srinagar to significantly enhance the early detection and treatment of tuberculosis (TB) across the district.
AI Technology to Strengthen TB Detection Capabilities
The Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, formally handed over the new equipment, which includes three Truenat machines and a handheld X-ray unit equipped with artificial intelligence technology, to the medical superintendents of Super Speciality Hospital, Children Hospital, and the District Tuberculosis Office Srinagar. The initiative aims to bolster the district’s capacity to screen and diagnose TB cases more effectively.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the acquisition of these advanced machines is a crucial step towards achieving better health outcomes and strengthening the public health infrastructure within the region. The AI technology integrated into the X-ray units is expected to aid radiologists and healthcare professionals in faster and more accurate interpretation of medical images, potentially leading to earlier identification of TB indicators.
CSR Support Bolsters Healthcare Infrastructure
The three Truenat Machines were procured through a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL). This collaboration underscores the role of public-private partnerships in augmenting essential healthcare services. The distribution ceremony, held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex, marked a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to combat tuberculosis in Srinagar.
During the event, Deputy Commissioner Labroo also recognized and felicitated senior officers from the District Administration, Block Development Officers, and healthcare workers. These accolades were in appreciation of their dedicated efforts that led to 21 Gram Panchayats in District Srinagar achieving TB-Free Panchayat status, a notable public health accomplishment.
Commitment to TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner encouraged the healthcare personnel to sustain their commitment to the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. He assured continued support from the District Administration to maintain and further enhance the progress made in TB elimination efforts. The Deputy Commissioner extended his gratitude to both Indian Oil Corporation Limited and Power Grid Corporation of India for their ongoing contributions through CSR activities, which have been instrumental in providing advanced diagnostic tools.
District Srinagar has been recognized among a select few districts nationwide to achieve the prestigious Gold Status under the TB Mukt Panchayat initiative, with all 21 of its Gram Panchayats meeting the stringent criteria. This recognition highlights the concerted efforts and effective implementation of TB control strategies at the grassroots level.
