Jammu and Kashmir to See Light Showers Until April 19, Followed by Dry Spell

SRINAGAR: The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is likely to experience light rainfall and thundershowers until April 19, with dry weather conditions expected to prevail thereafter, according to the local Meteorological Department.

According to details received by The Chenab Times, the weather is expected to remain predominantly dry until April 15. A slight possibility of isolated light rain or thundershowers exists on the evening or night of April 16. The forecast indicates a shift towards generally cloudy weather from April 17 to 18, with light rain or thundershowers anticipated in many areas. During this period, gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph and the potential for hailstorms at a few locations have also been cautioned.

Following this spell of mixed weather, a return to generally dry conditions is expected across Jammu and Kashmir from April 19 to 23. Temperatures are forecast to rise by 2–4 degrees Celsius at many places until April 16, with farmers advised to continue their agricultural operations during the current dry spell. The advisory for farmers stems from the prevailing dry conditions which are conducive to farming activities up to April 16.

The Meteorological Department has provided a detailed outlook for the coming days. From April 13 to 15, the weather is expected to be mostly dry. On April 16, while conditions will largely remain dry, isolated areas might experience light rain or thundershowers in the evening or night. A more significant change is predicted from April 17 to 18, with partly to generally cloudy skies and light rain or thundershowers expected at several locations. The department has also issued a warning for gusty winds and the possibility of hail during these two days.

Looking ahead, the weather is projected to become dry again from April 19 to 23, bringing a respite from the intermittent rainfall. This forecast aims to assist local authorities and residents in planning for the upcoming weather patterns. The information was corroborated by various weather monitoring agencies, all indicating a similar trend of light showers followed by a dry spell.
