A 30-year-old man in Uttar Pradesh allegedly died by suicide due to severe financial strain related to his sister’s upcoming wedding. The incident occurred in Fatehpur Mafi village, within the jurisdiction of Marhara police station, in Etah district.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the victim, identified as Satish Kumar, was found to have hanged himself at his residence. The tragedy took place while other members of his family were engaged in harvesting wheat in the fields, unaware of the dire situation unfolding at home.
According to accounts from both the police and the family, extensive preparations were underway for the wedding of Satish Kumar’s sister, which was scheduled for April 19. The household was actively involved in managing the various arrangements for the ceremony. His father, Rakesh Kumar, had reportedly been occupied with the distribution of wedding invitations.
Shyam Pal, a relative, stated that his brother Satish took the extreme step because he was experiencing significant mental distress stemming from the overwhelming financial burden associated with the wedding expenses. The pressure to meet these costs reportedly became unbearable for him.
Satish Kumar had been married for approximately eight years and was the father of four minor children. The family is now left to grapple with this immense loss, compounded by the financial challenges that preceded the tragedy.
His father also mentioned that Satish had a history of alcohol consumption. The impact of this habit on his mental state and his ability to cope with financial pressures is a factor being considered in the ongoing investigation.
Upon receiving information about the incident, local police from the Marhara station promptly arrived at the scene. Following standard procedure, they conducted inquest proceedings and subsequently sent the body for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Station House Officer KK Lodhi confirmed that the matter is under active investigation. Police are gathering input from family members and other relevant sources. Legal action will be initiated once the post-mortem report is received and the findings are thoroughly analyzed.
