Jammu and Kashmir Govt Orders Temporary Placement of Assistant Executive Engineer

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered the temporary placement of an Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) as an Incharge Executive Engineer within the Jal Shakti Department. The order, issued on Friday, is intended as a stop-gap arrangement to address immediate administrative requirements.

Information was available with The Chenab Times indicating that Government Order No. 69-JK(JSD) of 2026, dated April 17, sanctions the placement of Assistant Executive Engineer Smt. Nayeema Firdous as Executive Engineer on an incharge basis. This move is a temporary measure designed to fulfill administrative exigencies and does not confer any preferential right upon the officer for regular promotion to the post.

The government has stipulated that the arrangement is subject to the superior claim of any eligible officer found genuine or as may be determined by any pending legal proceedings before a competent court. Furthermore, the order clarifies that if the administrative requirement ceases, or if deputed officers are repatriated, the junior-most officer holding the higher charge will be reverted without any entitlement to continue in the position.

Consequent to this placement, Smt. Nayeema Firdous has been assigned the role of Incharge Executive Engineer in the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation (JKPDC). She has been directed to assume charge of her new responsibilities forthwith.

The Jal Shakti Department, formerly known as the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, is a crucial body responsible for the provision and management of water supply and sanitation services across the Union Territory. The department plays a vital role in infrastructure development, maintenance of water sources, and ensuring the delivery of clean drinking water to the populace.

The Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation (JKPDC) is a state-owned entity responsible for the development and operation of power projects in the Union Territory. Its mandate includes harnessing the region’s vast hydropower potential and ensuring a reliable supply of electricity to consumers. Engineering and administrative placements within such critical departments are routine exercises to maintain operational efficiency.
