SRINAGAR: Police in the Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir have successfully cracked a theft case, recovering stolen copper utensils valued at approximately ₹40,000 and apprehending the individuals involved.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the case, registered as FIR No. 32/2026 at Police Station Chadoora under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, prompted an extensive investigation. Police teams conducted multiple raids across various locations, including commercial establishments, in an effort to trace the missing property.
Acting on specific human intelligence, a police team led by Head Constable Javaid Ahmad executed a search operation in Main Chowk Wathoora. During this operation, the stolen copper utensils were recovered from a local shop.
The proprietor of the shop, identified as Abdul Rehman Bhat, a resident of Hanjigund, was taken into custody. Initial questioning revealed that Bhat had purchased the items from a juvenile who cited financial difficulties as the reason for selling them.
A subsequent investigation led to the identification and apprehension of two juveniles who were found to be involved in the theft. The crime occurred on the intervening night of February 26 and 27, 2026. Both apprehended juveniles have reportedly confessed to their involvement in the incident.
Authorities confirmed that all accused individuals have been taken into custody, and legal proceedings have been initiated accordingly. The recovered property has been seized as per established procedures, and the investigation into the matter is continuing to ascertain any further details or connections.
