Poonch, April 19: The District Administration of Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir has announced plans to conduct a series of Civil Defence air mock drills and a blackout mock exercise across the district. The drills are scheduled to take place from April 20 to April 24.

Information was available with The Chenab Times indicating that this initiative aims to enhance preparedness and coordination among various essential services in the event of an emergency. The Deputy Commissioner’s office has issued directives to all key departments, including the police, health services, Public Works Department (PWD), Jal Shakti, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and the Fire & Emergency Services. These departments have been instructed to collaborate closely with Civil Defence authorities to ensure the effective and seamless execution of the planned exercises.

Authorities have emphasized the importance of comprehensive planning and execution for the drills. This includes undertaking necessary arrangements well in advance, focusing on public awareness campaigns, logistical support, and fostering coordination with all relevant stakeholders. The objective is to simulate emergency scenarios and test the response mechanisms of the district administration and its allied departments.

Furthermore, officials involved in the preparatory stages and the execution of the drills have been directed to submit detailed action taken reports to the district administration. These reports will be crucial for subsequent review and will be forwarded to higher authorities for their assessment and necessary follow-up actions. The administration views these exercises as a vital component in strengthening the district’s disaster management capabilities and ensuring the safety and security of its residents.
