A Ludhiana-based accountant has reported the brazen theft of his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, which was taken from him within minutes by two unidentified individuals who allegedly threatened him. The incident occurred as the man was returning home from his workplace.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the Division No 8 police have registered a case 17 days after the incident, following a complaint lodged by Madhav Goyal, a resident of Gandhi Nagar. An investigation into the matter has commenced.
According to Goyal’s complaint, he works as an accountant at Ghumar Mandi. On the evening of the incident, at approximately 7 p.m., he departed from his office and was en route home on his motorcycle. While he was nearing Pavilion Mall at Session Chowk, his path was obstructed by two youths travelling on another motorcycle who overtook him. The assailants allegedly used abusive language, forcefully took the motorcycle keys from Goyal, pulled him off his bike, and fled with the vehicle after pushing him aside.
ASI Rajesh Kumar, the investigating officer in the case, confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the two accused. The police are currently examining the details of the complaint and initiating steps to identify and apprehend the perpetrators involved in the motorcycle theft.
The theft of a high-value motorcycle like a Harley-Davidson, particularly in such a direct and threatening manner, highlights concerns regarding street crime and the safety of commuters in the city. Authorities are expected to intensify patrols and surveillance in areas identified as vulnerable to such incidents.
This incident underscores the challenges faced by law enforcement in combating vehicle theft, especially when sophisticated or high-value items are targeted. The investigation is ongoing, with police appealing to the public for any information that could assist in the recovery of the stolen motorcycle and the arrest of the individuals responsible.
