JAMMU, April 21: A comprehensive review of security measures at several vital installations, including the Chenab railway bridge and the Sawalakote hydro-electric project, was conducted in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. The inspection, led by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi, aimed to bolster safety protocols and enhance inter-agency coordination.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that SSP Reasi, Mukund Tibrewal, undertook a high-level inspection on Tuesday, focusing on the Chenab bridge, Dugga railway station, and the Sawalakote hydro-electric project situated in the Arnas sub-division. The review encompassed an assessment of security arrangements for these critical infrastructure sites.
During his visit to the Chenab bridge, a landmark structure connecting Kouri and Bakal, SSP Tibrewal engaged with personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP). He underscored the necessity of robust coordination among all deployed agencies to ensure effective joint area domination exercises in the surrounding villages and forest areas. Emphasis was placed on maintaining strict access control measures and leveraging modern surveillance systems to preempt any untoward incidents, according to a police spokesman.
At Dugga railway station and the Sawalakote project, the SSP interacted with the security personnel on duty and members of the Village Defence Groups. He issued directives for the daily documentation of all area domination exercises and stressed the importance of continuous training and regular engagement for the Village Defence Guards, including proficiency in firing practices. These measures are intended to enhance the preparedness and effectiveness of local security assets.
The inspection also included visits to the Dhansal police post and the Arnas police station. At the Arnas police station, specific instructions were given to improve the upkeep of police records and maintain the overall cleanliness of the premises. Investigating Officers were urged to expedite pending inquests, focus on tracing missing persons, and ensure the apprehension of absconders to reduce case pendency. The SSP reiterated that the security of vital installations, alongside religious sites, remains a paramount priority for the district administration.
