SRINAGAR: Niyati Dutta, a student from Mendhar in Poonch district, has achieved the highest score in the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) Class 10 examinations, securing an impressive 499 out of 500 marks. She shares the top rank with several other students who also attained the same score.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that Niyati is the daughter of Munish Dutta, a government teacher. She attributed her academic success to the guidance and support of her parents and educators. Niyati credited her father for teaching her strategic planning and hard work, while her mother provided constant encouragement and assistance with challenges.
She also expressed gratitude towards her teachers at KGN Public School, where she completed her primary education, and her higher secondary school. Specific mention was made of mentors including Lata Ma’am and her principal, as well as coaching teacher Pallavi Ma’am. Niyati also acknowledged the help of her brother, Ishan, in her mathematics studies.
The JKBOSE announced the results for the Jammu division, with an overall pass percentage of 88.85 percent recorded for the Class 10 examinations. Official statistics revealed that girls demonstrated superior performance, achieving a pass percentage of 90.42 percent, compared to 87.51 percent among boys.
A total of 50,754 students participated in the March session examinations, comprising 27,486 boys and 23,268 girls. Of these candidates, 45,094 students, including 24,054 boys and 21,040 girls, have successfully qualified. Approximately 5,650 students did not clear the examination, according to the released figures.
Hailing from a border region often perceived as having limited resources, Niyati Dutta’s achievement is being widely celebrated as a testament to her perseverance, discipline, and dedication. Her near-perfect score has not only placed her at the forefront of the examination results but has also brought significant recognition and pride to Mendhar and the wider Poonch district.
