A private hospital in Nuh, Haryana, and a surgeon have been booked by the police following allegations of medical negligence after a 24-year-old patient’s healthy gall bladder was allegedly removed instead of treating a urinary tract stone. The incident, which reportedly occurred on September 10, 2025, at Al Salam Hospital in Tauru, Nuh, has led to an FIR being registered against the hospital operator and the surgeon involved.
According to the complaint filed by Kamal, the father of the patient, Nadeem, a painter, his son was admitted to the hospital with severe abdominal pain. Following a surgery that lasted approximately 25 minutes, the family alleged that the medical staff behaved suspiciously and were evasive when questioned. Suspecting that something was amiss, the family recorded the patient’s internal medical files. A subsequent ultrasound revealed that Nadeem’s gall bladder had been removed, despite it being healthy, and not the intended urinary tract stone.
Following these allegations, an inquiry was conducted by the Chief Medical Officer of the medical board in Mandikhera, Nuh. The inquiry board, in its report dated February 5, 2026, reportedly concluded that the patient’s gall bladder was normal. The board also noted that hospital records appeared to have been tampered with to indicate consent for gall bladder removal, when the family had only consented to surgery for the urinary tract stone. The findings established negligence on the part of the hospital and the surgical team.
Based on the inquiry’s recommendations, the Nuh Police registered an FIR at the City Tauru police station. The charges include criminal conspiracy and other relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Nadeem has reportedly been bedridden for the past seven months due to severe post-operative complications arising from the alleged botched procedure. Police officials have indicated that arrests are expected to follow the registration of the FIR.
The Indian Express reported that police spokesperson Krishan Kumar confirmed the registration of the FIR based on the health department’s inquiry and recommendations. The patient’s father had alleged suspicious conduct by the doctors immediately after the surgery, prompting him to record the patient’s medical files. The ultrasound results corroborated the claim that the gall bladder had been removed.
This incident brings to light serious allegations of medical malpractice, where a patient allegedly underwent an unnecessary surgical procedure with significant adverse health consequences. The case is currently under police investigation, and further legal action is anticipated against the hospital and the medical professionals implicated in the alleged negligence. The patient’s prolonged suffering underscores the gravity of the allegations.
