Bengaluru: In a significant operation conducted near the Madiwala check post, the Women Protection Wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) has apprehended six foreign nationals in connection with alleged prostitution activities. The arrests were made following credible intelligence indicating that the individuals were soliciting passersby for illegal engagements.
The operation, which led to the detention of the six women, was initiated after the police received specific information about their presence near a bus stop on the footpath, actively approaching individuals for illicit purposes. Authorities reported that upon inquiry, the apprehended women were unable to provide valid passport and visa documentation, prompting further legal action.
The women, identified as being from Tanzania and Uganda, were aged between 24 and 30. They were reportedly engaging in soliciting men for prostitution in a public area close to the Madiwala Check Post, falling under the jurisdiction of the Koramangala Police Station. The arrests were made on April 24, with subsequent reports emerging around April 28.
A case has been registered at the Koramangala Police Station, and the women have been produced before the station for further investigation. Police have not disclosed the nationalities of the women in their official statements, but reports indicate a mix from Tanzania and Uganda. The individuals were reportedly staying on the outskirts of Bengaluru in rented accommodations and would enter the city late at night to solicit clients.
This incident highlights ongoing efforts by the Bengaluru police to combat illegal activities and maintain public order within the city. The Central Crime Branch has been actively involved in such crackdowns, previously busting other prostitution rackets operating from various locations, including spas and rented houses, leading to rescues and arrests.
