A significant fire broke out in a residential building in Ghaziabad’s Indirapuram area on Wednesday morning, prompting the swift evacuation of residents and triggering panic among locals. Thick plumes of smoke were seen billowing from the Gaur Green Avenue society in Abhay Khand, with the blaze reportedly originating on the ninth floor of the building.
The fire, which was first reported around Wednesday morning, rapidly spread through the residential complex. Fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the scene and engaged in dousing operations to contain the flames and prevent further spread. The intensity of the fire led to residents evacuating their homes in haste.
According to initial reports from residents, between 10 to 12 flats have been gutted in the incident. While the exact extent of the damage is still being assessed, authorities are suspecting a possible electrical fault may have triggered the blaze. However, the definitive cause will be confirmed only after a thorough investigation is completed.
The incident occurred in the Indirapuram area of Ghaziabad, a region that has unfortunately seen multiple fire incidents in recent times. In a similar event on April 16, 2026, a massive fire swept through a slum cluster in Kanawani village, also in Indirapuram, gutting approximately 200 huts and dozens of scrap godowns. The presence of numerous LPG cylinders within the huts exacerbated that blaze, leading to explosions that intensified firefighting challenges.
Another incident on April 3, 2026, saw a flat on the second floor of a high-rise in Raj Nagar Extension catch fire. Despite the deployment of two fire tenders, the fire’s rapid spread necessitated further efforts to control it. Chief Fire Officer Rahul Pal had noted that internal firefighting equipment was insufficient against the escalating flames in that instance.
In a separate incident on October 22, 2025, a fire broke out at Divya Apartments in Indirapuram’s Shakti Khand-2 area. The blaze, which officials believe originated from temporary fiber sheets on a balcony, was brought under control within an hour. Around a dozen fire tenders were utilized, and all residents were safely evacuated. Preliminary investigations suggested the fire started due to the fiber sheets, with a detailed probe underway to determine the exact cause.
The repeated occurrences of fires in residential and slum areas of Ghaziabad underscore ongoing concerns regarding fire safety measures and preparedness in the district. Fire officials are continuing their efforts at the Gaur Green Avenue society to ensure the fire is fully extinguished and to ascertain the precise cause of the latest incident.
