The crucial first stage of randomisation for counting personnel in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections has been successfully completed in Cuddalore district. The District Election Officer and Collector, Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar, oversaw the computerised randomisation process. This procedure is designed to assign roles such as micro-observers, supervisors, and assistants for the counting of votes, thereby upholding the integrity of the electoral outcome.
The randomisation process is a multi-stage procedure mandated by the Election Commission of India to ensure impartiality. According to guidelines, a list of approximately 120 per cent of the required number of officials is generated randomly using software. This initial stage is conducted prior to the counting date and does not reveal the specific constituency to which the personnel will be deployed, thereby preventing any potential bias or influence.
Following this first stage, subsequent randomisation processes will take place closer to the counting day. The second randomisation, held 24 hours before counting, will allocate personnel to specific Assembly Constituencies. The final randomisation, occurring on the morning of counting day, will assign individuals to specific counting tables, ensuring that all arrangements are in place before the commencement of vote tabulation.
The completion of this first phase of randomisation in Cuddalore marks a vital step in the meticulous preparations underway for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
