JAMMU, May 01: NHPC Executive Director Anish Gouraha took charge on Friday as the regional head overseeing the Public Sector Undertaking’s operations across the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that Gouraha assumed leadership of NHPC Limited’s regional office situated in Jammu. In this capacity, he will be responsible for the oversight of the company’s power stations and ongoing projects within both Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
Following his assumption of office in Jammu, Gouraha held discussions with officials representing the Salal Power Station and the Sawalkote project. During these interactions, he emphasized the critical importance of maintaining operational excellence. Gouraha also encouraged employees to demonstrate unwavering commitment towards the advancement of sustainable energy development throughout the region, according to an official spokesperson.
A professional with nearly three decades of experience in the sector, Gouraha is an electrical engineering graduate from GEC Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. He also possesses an MBA in human resources, an official statement detailed. Gouraha began his tenure with NHPC in 1997, initially posted at the Salal Power Station. Over the years, he has occupied several significant roles, including assignments at the Tattapani geothermal project and within the design (E&M) division at the corporate headquarters.
NHPC Limited, a prominent Indian government-owned hydropower generation company, plays a crucial role in the nation’s energy infrastructure. Its projects in the northernmost regions are vital for regional development and power supply. The appointment of a dedicated regional head underscores the company’s strategic focus on managing and expanding its operations in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, areas rich in hydropower potential.
