Anshit Kumar Tops Himachal Class 12 Exams; 92.02% Candidates Pass

Anshit Kumar has emerged as the overall topper in the Himachal School Board Class 12 examinations, achieving an impressive 99.02 per cent. The overall pass percentage for the state stands at 92.02 per cent, marking a significant improvement from previous years.

Information was available with The Chenab Times indicating that girls have once again outperformed boys in the examinations. Out of the 76 students who secured positions in the combined top 10 merit list across all streams, 60 are girls and 16 are boys, underscoring the strong academic performance of female students.

Detailed Examination Results Announced

Rajesh Sharma, Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education, announced the results for the Arts, Science, and Commerce streams on Monday. A total of 81,417 students appeared for the Class 12 examinations held across 2,384 centres in Himachal Pradesh. Of these, 74,637 students successfully cleared the exams, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 92.02 per cent.

The statistics further revealed that out of 40,281 girls who appeared, 37,749 passed, while 36,888 out of 40,828 boys successfully cleared the examination. A total of 3,352 students were declared to have failed, and 3,071 students were placed in the compartment category, requiring re-examination in specific subjects.

Stream-wise Toppers Highlighted

In the Arts stream, Anshit Sharma, a student of PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Bhawarna in Kangra district, secured the first position not only in her stream but also as the overall state topper. She achieved 99.2 per cent marks, securing 496 out of a possible 500 marks. Arushi from Government Senior Secondary School, Kanger Dharyar in Sirmaur district secured the second position with 99 per cent marks. Shamaya Barjatya of Government Model Senior Secondary School and Dari in Kangra district secured the third position with 98.8 per cent marks.

The Science stream saw Shayla Kashyap from The New Era School of Sciences, Chhatri in Kangra, topping the merit list with 99 per cent marks. Sanchita Dhiman of Gurukul Public Senior Secondary School, Amb in Una, and Kashi Sharma of Aryan Public School, Jhandi in Hamirpur district, shared the second position, both scoring 98.6 per cent marks.

In the Commerce stream, three students achieved the first position with identical scores of 98.2 per cent. These toppers were Yashsvani Chauhan and Krishika, both from St D.R. Public School, Gagret in Una, and Ayan of AVM Senior Secondary School, Pahra in Kangra district.

Congratulatory Messages and Contextual Performance

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Education Minister Rohit Thakur extended their congratulations to all students who passed the examinations. Chief Minister Sukhu lauded the meritorious students for their outstanding achievements, attributing their success to consistent hard work and dedication. He emphasized the crucial role of parents, teachers, and well-wishers in supporting students throughout their academic journey.

Education Minister Rohit Thakur highlighted that the pass percentage of 92.02 per cent is an improvement over previous years, indicating the positive impact of ongoing reforms and enhancements implemented by the state government and the HP Board of School Education in the education sector. For context, the pass percentages in previous years were reported as 79.06 per cent in 2023, 74.0 per cent in 2024, and 83.16 per cent in 2025. The Minister also specifically praised the performance of girl students, noting their consistent outperformance of boys in the examinations.

He further stated that the excellent performance of the girl students is a source of pride for the entire state and reflects their growing determination, talent, and accomplishments in the field of education.
