Background of Similar Incidents

This incident follows a history of similar occurrences in Bareilly. In September of the previous year, violent clashes erupted in the city on September 26, following controversy over an “I Love Mohammad” poster. Maulana Tauqeer Raza has been in jail since September 27 in connection with those events. Police sources indicated that around 14 accused have been identified so far through CCTV footage related to Sunday’s incident. A complaint from a bystander who reported being subjected to abuse and threats from a group involved in the incident also contributed to the police action.

The district administration has heightened security measures in the Cantonment area to prevent any further unrest or escalation of the situation. The incident has prompted concern among local communities and authorities, with efforts underway to ensure law and order are maintained.
